The Karachi Port handled 60,383 tonnes of cargo comprising 38,881 tonnes of import cargo and 21,502 tonnes of export cargo including 2,773 loaded & empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 38,881 tonnes comprised 15,199 tonnes of containerised cargo; 176 tonnes of general cargo and 23,506 tonnes of coal.

The total export cargo of 21,502 tonnes comprised 15,231 tonnes of containerised cargo; 949 tonnes of general cargo and 5,322 tonnes of rice. As many as 2,773 containers comprising 1,454 containers import and 1,319 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The brakeup of imported containers shows 206 of 20's and 569 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 55 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 167 of 20's and 295 of 40's loaded containers while 2 of 20's and 280 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There are six ships namely APL Brisbane, Abtin-1, Santa Rufina, Zao Galaxy, Tan Binh-22 and Marsus with three container ships, one chemicals carrier, one seeds carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are three vessels viz Cap Verde, APL Guangzhou and Marsus with two container ships and one general cargo ship respectively are currently at the berth.

A container ship namely Cap Verde sailed out to sea on Friday, while three ships namely Pacific Future, Ikan Serong and Lodestar Genesis with one rice carrier, one coal carrier and one general cargo ship respectively are expected to sail on Saturday. There are four vessels viz YM Tai Chung, UASC Samarra, MT Quetta and African Ibis with two container ships, one crude oil tanker and one steel ship respectively due to arrive on Friday, while six vessels viz Wan Hai-603, TS Pusan, Med Nordic, Bunga Kantan, Framura and Vinalines Green with two container ships, one carbon black carrier, one SFO tanker, one chemical carrier and one steel coils ship respectively are due to arrive on Saturday. There are two ships namely Cape Flores and Aal Borg with one containers ship and one project cargo ship respectively are due to arrive on Sunday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 103,884 tonnes comprising 64,527 tonnes of import cargo and 39,357 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,003 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 64,527 tonnes includes 853 tonnes of LPG; 28,769 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,815 tonnes of wheat; 7,399 tonnes of chemicals and 20,691 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 39,357 tonnes includes 2,991 tonnes of rice and 36,366 tonnes of containerised cargo. A total number of 3,003 containers comprising 1,089 containers import and 1,914 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Amber and MV Global Challenge with containers and edible oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while two more ships namely CV Hammonia Pacificum and MT Al-Soor-II with containers and diesel oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of seven vessels viz CV Hammonia Pacificum, CV CMA CGM Amber, MV Beautiful Rena, MV Dogan Bey, MV Global Challenge, MT Argent Aster and MT Al-Soor-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, wheat, chemicals, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as four ships namely SC Hai Kou, Zao Galaxy, Al-Marzoqah and Sigloo Hav with palm oil, furnace oil and chemicals respectively are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. An edible oil tanker MT Zao Galaxy is expected to take berth at Liquid Cargo Terminal on Friday.
